Departments

 Administration Department

The Administration department is located at 1005 Ross Street. The Administration team works closely with the Mayor and Town council to ensure council's decisions and directives are carried out and communicated to residents. The Administrative team consists of the chief administrative officer, administrative assistant, utilities co-ordinator and receptionist.

Infrastructure and Strategic Services

The Infrastructure and Strategic Services department is located at 1005 Ross Street. Members of the team are responsible for overseeing large capital infrastructure projects, the Town's economic development activities and internal and external communications.

Some of the services provided by the Infrastructure and Strategic Services department include:

  • Initiating Requests for Proposals for significant capital projects and working with contractors to complete those projects.
  • Working closely with the local business community and organizations like the Chamber of Commerce to grow and strengthen the local economy and business community.
  • Ensuring residents, businesses and staff are informed regarding the Town’s activities, through a variety of communication channels

Community Services Department

The Community Services department is located at 1005 Ross Street and works closely with the Parks and Recreation department. The Community Services department offers a wide range of services and programs to the residents of Crossfield and Area. The focus is on providing efficient, responsive and innovative community-based service that promotes healthy and safe neighbourhoods, and meets the community's diverse cultural, recreational and information needs.

The Community Services department consists of the community services manager, recreation and community events co-ordinator and community development co-ordinator.

Some of the services provided by the Community Services department include:

  • Recreational, cultural and educational programming for all ages.

  • Local community events.

  • Summer camps for children and youth.

  • Assist and work with local organizations and non-profit groups with their activities, projects and grant applications.

  • Apply for municipal grants that benefit the community as a whole.

  • Administer the Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) program.

Emergency Services Department

The Crossfield Emergency Services team consists of a Volunteer Fire Department and a Community Peace Officer.

The volunteer fire department is a valuable, dedicated and highly trained group that provides emergency response for fire, motor vehicle collisions, medical emergencies or any other type of emergency situation to Crossfield and area residents.

The Community Peace Officer is a highly trained and skilled professional responsible for the overall safety of the community. Appointed through Alberta Justice and Solicitor General, the Community Peace Officer is tasked to provide public education and enforcement of municipal bylaws, along with enforcement of certain provincial legislation including the Traffic Safety Act. They also work with the schools and community groups to educate and bring awareness to community safety concerns and initiatives. Provincial legislation does not allow the Community Peace Officer to deal with criminal matters.

 

 Finance Department

The Finance department is located in the Town Administration building at 1005 Ross Street.  The Finance department provides support services to the municipality, as well as maintaining and communicating financial information to the public, Town council and staff.  The department consists of the financial officer and the accounting clerk.

 Operational Services Department

The Town of Crossfield Operational Services department is located at 1202 Laut Avenue. The Operational Services team is comprised of the director of 0perations, town foreman and four operators. Operational Services takes pride in providing efficient and responsive services to the residents of Crossfield as well as the priorities set by Mayor and Town council.  

Some of the services delivered by the Operational Services Department include:

  • Road System Maintenance
  • Snow and Ice control
  • Line Painting and crosswalk markings
  • Storm Drainage Maintenance
  • Water and wastewater system maintenance
  • Maintaining fleet of vehicles and equipment
  • Cemetery grave work

 Parks and Recreation Department

The Parks and Recreation department is responsible for providing maintenance and upkeep to all the Town's parks, green spaces, playgrounds, outdoor recreation facilities and the Crossfield Cemetery.  The department prides itself on providing a safe and clean community. The Parks and Recreation department includes a parks and recreation manager, one laborer and casual summer employees.

Some of the services delivered by the Parks and Recreation department include:

  • Parks and greenspace maintenance, including mowing.
  • Maintenance of playground equipment, tennis court and waterpark.
  • Maintenance all flowerbeds in parks and Town planters on Railway Street.
  • Cemetery care and maintenance.
  • Pathway upkeep.
