Development Documents

The Town of Crossfield is dedicated to ensuring that there is growth within the community. There is a wide variety of industrial, manufacturing, and commercial companies located within Crossfield that contribute to the economic economy. Crossfield is a strong option for businesses looking to expand their operations, or new businesses looking for a location. 

New businesses locating or opening operations within Crossfield are considered developments and will need to conform to the Land Use Bylaw and other planning documents such as the Municipal Development Plan, Downtown and Entrance Area Redevelopment Plan and the Rocky View/Crossfield Intermunicipal Development Plan.

Development projects will require an application, review and an approval prior to starting any new business, new construction, etc.


Starting a New Business

Crossfield is a great location to start a new business. A booming industrial/manufacturing centre and expanding residental communities provide the ultimate live, work, play relationship.

A Home Occupation permit will be required for any home-based businesses.

A development permit is required for any new business and new construction. New construction includes most sheds, accessory buildings, garages, and fences.

Downtown Crossfield Façade Grant Program

In 2014 Town Council approved the Downtown Crossfield Façade Grant Program.  The program provides financial incentives to property owners /tenants, the program seeks to stimulate private sector investment in the revitalization of existing commercial and mixed-use buildings in the Downtown Revitalization Plan Area.  The program focuses on improvements to the front façade and building elevations that can be seen from the street.

The programs apply to buildings located in the Downtown Revitalization Plan Area for commercial buildings only.
