Judi Smith

Judi Smith. My husband Jim and I moved to Crossfield from White Rock, BC in October 1999. Being raised in Calgary, I felt attempting to acclimate myself to gray and rainy winters on the coast of BC for 28 years was enough. We chose Crossfield above all other small communities surrounding Calgary because it felt like home as soon as we crossed the tracks. We became involved with the Crossfield C.O.P. organization shortly after moving to town.

We have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren all residing in other provinces.

I have no political background or experience – I’m just like most of the people of Crossfield. I became interested in taking part in the decisions that would determine the direction and speed of growth in Crossfield after realizing that it was inevitable that the growth experienced by Calgary and Airdrie would soon reach us. I felt this growth would determine the new face of Crossfield and the growth of the community would have to be well balanced with our current needs and integrated planning for the future. I wanted my opinion to count.

The needs of this community are great and there is much work to be done. The most important thing you can do as a stakeholder in Crossfield is to attend Open House’s, learn about initiatives affecting Crossfield, ask to be included in mail/email lists that send you information about issues that directly affect you and your community. Please take part in growing this community – your opinions count too.

I look forward to working with Mayor McCracken, my fellow Councillors, Crossfield Town staff and you - the citizens of Crossfield, to make the decisions that will best benefit Crossfield today and in the future.

Jacky works a bus driver and transports students from the MD into the Town of Crossfield. Please feel free to contact her at any time to pass along comments or voice concerns about happenings within the Town. Jacky looks forward to serving the community for the next three years.
